Dragon’s Dogma 2: What is Moniker? Explained

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is unlike any other RPG and many new terms and mechanics in the game can be quite confusing for new players of the series. One of these terms is Moniker, which players have to choose while creating their Character and Pawn. TheDragon’s Dogma 2 character creatorwas released before the game, allowing players to customize their characters and main pawn before the release of the game.In-game Screenshot

After the players have finalized their characters and main Pawns, they reach the Name and Moniker menu. Here players can name their characters anything they want. The input name will appear as the character’s identity when other players search for their Pawns (or find them randomly in-game).

The character creator allows players to name their characters almost anything…and that can be quite a problem. When given free rein, gamers can be veryartistic. We have already seen themonstrosities gamers have created using the DD2 character creator, it’s no wonder that they can be as creative with the names.

This might not be an issue for adults, but you don’t want kids to be exposed to obscene language through names. So,Capcom implemented the Moniker system to regulate this behavior.In-game Screenshot

Monikers are basically a profanity filter for namesand they are only used on accounts with Parental Guidance enabled. When an account has the Parental Guidance enabled, the player sees the Moniker of the Pawn while recruiting them from the rift instead of the original name.

There are many choices for Monikers in Dragon’s Dogma 2, and all the Monikers are named after characters from other Capcom games. You don’t really need to worry about Monikers while creating your character, and if you are lucky, you might find a similar Moniker to your chosen name.

So, there you have it. Now you know what Monikers are in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Tell us the Moniker you picked for your character and the main Pawn in the comment section below.
