How to Pre-Order Apple Vision Pro on January 19
Apple Vision Pro is set to launch in the US on February 2, 2024, with pre-orders starting January 19 5 a.m. PST. The next big product launch by the tech giant is highly anticipated and we already know that Apple will host a 25-minute long Apple Vision Pro demo if you visit the Apple retail store on February 2. However, if you are someone who wants to buy the Vision Pro without standing in the queue, pre-ordering is the best way to go. But, Apple Vision Pro-order won’t be as easy as clicking on the buy button on Apple’s website. Here’s how to pre-order Apple Vision Pro on January 19.
What Would You Need to Pre-Order Apple Vision Pro
Apple Vision Pro is the company’s upcoming product line and there are a set of requirements that you need to fulfill. While Apple has claimed that Vision Pro is a standalone product that does not require any companion device, the pre-order process is tied to Apple ID as detailed by Apple. Here’s what you’d need to pre-order Apple Vision Pro:
Where to Pre-order Apple Vision Pro
Apple Vision Pro can be pre-ordered from Apple’s website and from the Apple Store app as well. However, if you are planning to pre-order Vision Pro from Apple’s website using a Mac or iPad, make sure that you have an iPhone or iPad with Face ID nearby. During the pre-ordering process, you will be required to scan your face for the correct size of the Light Seal and Head Band.
Apple Vision Pro Pre-Order Process
While Apple is largely tight-lipped about the Vision Pro pre-order process, here is what we are expecting. Since Vision Pro is only available in the US, it is quite likely that you need to have an Apple ID registered in the US to order the mixed-reality headset.
1. Choose Vision Pro Configuration
When you open the Apple Store app on your iPhone or iPad and visit the Vision Pro product page, you will be asked to choose the configuration. We know so far that Vision Pro will have 256GB of storage in the base variant. It is expected that Apple will also offer 512GB and 1TB options but there is no official confirmation as of now.
2. Scan Face using Face ID
On the confirmation page, you will be asked to scan your face using the Face ID. This step is important as it will help in determining the correct fit for the Light Seal and head band.
3. Upload Eye Prescription
Further, if you use prescription glasses, you will be asked a few questions to check whether you need optical inserts for Vision Pro. If yes, you will be prompted to upload a valid and unexpired eye prescription from an eye care professional based in the US. Moreover, Apple has mentioned on the app that not all prescriptions are supported but has not mentioned which prescriptions will be considered eligible.
How Many Vision Pro Units Will Apple Sell
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has reported that 60,000 to 80,000 units will be produced by Apple for the February 2 launch. Considering the huge demand, Apple is expecting that Vision Pro will sell out soon. If you are planning to pre-order Vision Pro, ensure that you have everything required ready to grab a unit. It is also expected that Apple will initially restrict the number of Vision Pro units that a user can purchase to ensure wider availability.
Can a Non-Apple User Pre-Order Vision Pro
This is where things get tricky. If you are a non-Apple user and want to buy Vision Pro, you are in tough luck. Apple has mentioned on the Apple Store app that users will need to scan their face with an iPhone or iPad with Face ID. This could be a dead end for non-Apple users. You can buy an iPhone or iPad if you desperately want to get Vision Pro.
