Now, before making a purchase decision it is essential to know some of the nitty-gritty details about the devices like are they waterproof? So, in this article, we will let you know if the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Pro are waterproof or not.

Are iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro Waterproof?

The iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max have anIP68 ratingunder IEC standard 60529, which means they are splash, water, and dust resistant. However, this doesn’t make them waterproof. Instead, the iPhone 15 series is water-resistant. The IP68 rating means that the iPhone 15 can be submerged under water up to a maximum depth of 6 meters for up to 30 minutes. If you’re confused about IP rating, refer to the section below.

iPhone 15 Water-resistant IP68 Rating Explained

IP68 is the highest level of water and dust resistance that you will typically find in consumer devices. The First number in an IP rating denotes the resistance of the device against solid components like dust and thesecond digitdenotes protection against liquids(generally water). The overall rating denotes the level of dust, water, and splash that the device can withstand. Do note that this can vary depending on the manufacturer and/or the type of consumer product.

In the case of the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Pro, all four models in the lineup have IP68 rating. It means the iPhones can withstand submersion in fresh water for up to 30 minutes and at adepth of 6 meters.Do note that this is the standard method of rating and not the IP rating for water and dust resistance that other manufacturers use.
