Starfield to Officially Add DLSS Support Next Week

It isn’t a surprise that upscaling technologies have become a boon for PC gaming over the years. So, Starfield skipping NVIDIA DLSS and offering only AMD FSR support was quite strange. While some gamers find it quite annoying when developers omit such features, recent developments have improved NVIDIA’s upscaling technology. And Bethesda’s Space RPG is now preparing to roll out DLSS support next week.

Bethesda announced the news of the DLSS update via Starfield’s official Twitter account, sharing their plans for the upcoming DLSS and frame generation upgrade. Generally, most updates launch in the live build of the game. However, in this case, the developer is opting for thebeta branchof Starfield. Beta branches are in-development live versions of the game. Here, the developers push out new updates to test and gain feedback from the player base. Once the update is fool-proof and perfect, it goes live for everyone.

Along withNVIDIA DLSSand frame generation support, the beta update will also contain the much-requested HDR controls in Starfield. Outside of that, the usual optimization and improvements will also be available in the update. This is the first major update the game has received, outside of the smaller bug fixes for both Xbox and PC.We’ve been hard at work on@StarfieldGameupdates and will be putting our next one into Steam Beta next week. This update will feature Nvidia DLSS support with frame generation, display and HDR controls for supported systems, and other optimizations and improvements. Bethesda hasn’t shared the details on joining the beta branch to test the DLSS update for Starfield. But, generally, if you want to opt into the Steam beta branch for a game, you can right-click on the game, go to properties, and select the beta option in the pop-up. This patch will exclusively be available for Steam users. Hence, Xbox and Game Pass users will have to wait for the official patch.

Another thing worth pointing out here is mod support. We’ve already seen a number ofmods for Starfield, some even adding support for DLSS. However, generally, mods can sometimes break the game when a new patch rolls out. So, if you plan on testing the beta update for Starfield, we suggest removing the mods, backing up your game files, and then testing them one by one to see whether they break your game or not.
